Research so far

Since typography is my weakness, I decided to make it the focal point of my research.
As a warm up, I read Tim Burton's book of poetry; it is a good example of design publication that is comprised of poetry and illustration.

I managed to pick up a book called 'How to Use Type' by Lindsey Marshall and Lester Meachem, and read it :)

What I like about the book that it serves the reader with adequate inspirational examples of designs for which type and images are used harmoniously. What I did need more though is to grasp the basics of the grid system, as my text floats around the page like a boats floats around water.

This is a photo taken from the book. I specifically like this design as the text flows along the page fluently and boldly, depicting the flowing sound of jazz music.

Before moving on to my next book that I have collected from the library, I thought it would be interesting to see what the internet has for me.

The Grid System is a great start to my online research. There, you can find articles, tools, books and blogs that relate to typography and of course, the grid system.

The first article I read, How to Make a Grid, is specifically interesting because it gives a brief history of typography; how it started building up from the Bauhaus period and so on.

The next article I found is Grid (Golden Section). However, I still have to look more into this page, as there is a nice list of topics available in the bottom menu.
