Play time!

After experimenting with my digital painting, I remembered something that might change the coarse of my overall book design...

I remembered walking along the park, and luckily spring had begun by then, and so there was a nice amount of flowers blooming everywhere. So I took photos...I enjoyed this so much, I wish to dive deeper into photography...

Here are a few photos that I took on my walk through the park. Unfortunately, for this basic experiment the photos are not in high resolution as I took them with my iPhone. Of course that won't be the case for my final implementation.

As you can see, with only an iPhone photo quality, one can capture beautiful textures, movements, colors and compositions...This comes with the natural beauty of the flowers, not my photography skills.

By editing some of the photos, I came up with layouts that are very close to what I began imagining. It has a potential I believe.

Then I chose one of the titles of my poems, and one quote, and made basic positioning ideas.

I want to be a professional digital artist. My initial idea for my major project was to spend most of my time creating a hyper-realistic digital painting. However, there is a reason why I am beginning to think that probably experimenting with photography would be a beneficial thing to do.

  • My business does represent me as an artist, but it also stresses on the fact that my business does not stem into one direction, as the curiosity for experimentation is essential for every designer

  • If you enjoy doing something, it is almost never a good idea to ignore it. One must rather push further and see what one can create. Therefore, I would like to, for the first time, make a project that is based on photography.

  • As a designer, I cannot merely rely on my hobby every time I am given a project. I would like to wear more than one hat, and get myself out of my comfort zone. For my undergraduate's major project I focused on art. Similarly, for both project A and B I relied on my hobby to present a design concept. However, can I do nothing else as a designer? Should I not see myself as a designer that can draw instead of seeing myself as an artist that is only a designer by name?
