Related Companies/organizations (Project A)

Related Companies/organizations

Mental Health Foundation:

This foundation specifically will not receive individuals for information, research or queries. It actually mentioned on the website that they won’t, and that students who need information for research related reasons are welcome to look through specific links listed on their website.

So

I cannot visit them.

But I read the information about what they do, and hopefully some other place will allow me visit them.

Here is the information I found on the Mental Health Foundation:

Work:
  1. They create campaigns to erase the stigma that has been pervasive about depressed people.
  2. Aid the people in having a greater understanding of how to live a healthy life and better their wellbeing.
  3. Generate policies that are research-based to spread around the UK. These policies aid people in improving their mental state and recover.
  4. Experts and various sectors collaborate together to generate the policies.
  5. Carry out research.
  6. Create ways to enhance the quality and accessibility of the mental health services around the UK.

What I do appreciate about this foundation is that it stays truly active and devoted. It has publications, carries out researches, responds to medical researches and discuss these issues online in order to spread greater understand of mental health. It discusses mental health related matters on the website for the viewer to read. For example, it stated that it is a global misunderstanding that depression is normal due to aging. There are many links with valuable and interesting information.

Make it Happen:

This is a club that offers coaching and advice to help people over come troubles relating to the mental status; be it overcoming your fears, fighting depression, building dreams, pertaining your dreams or anything as such, it is a place from which you can take initiative steps towards a better life.

Surprisingly enough, I actually met the coach that works at this club by coincidence. I was lost in the streets, he saw me, and he noticed that I was lost, and kindly offered help. It was on that day that he gave me his business card, and that day was way before our first day of class. It turns out his business is related to my topic!

I was thrilled!

Anyways, I wasn’t given the green light to visit the club itself for further investigations and research.

So again, and unfortunately, all the information here is what I found only through the website.

So, as I browsed through his page, I realized that his approach is noticeably different from the Mental Health Foundation. Obviously, his club take is more personal approaches to encouraging the viewers to seek help. The language usage is less formal, and rather more friendly than it is scientific. Having said that, I am not suggesting that his approach is more or less effective than ‘The Mental health Foundation’; I believe both means of targeting the audience is effective. After all, some people feel more comfortable in informal environments, whereas others prefer formal, and scientific language usage.
