Art style investigation

Before diving deeper into the inspiration in the search of the right art style, I came across a useful website for anyone who would like to get his/her artworks across and get noticed.

Creative Boom.

The main struggle is finding an art style that will generate a flow in the book along with the photographs of the flowers. I need something that takes less time to create than the hyper-realism artworks take. I need something explosive fluent.

As a source of inspiration, it was recommended to me to look at the work of Ralph Steadman.

Truly, his work has a dynamic style. I have to find ways to make my work as lively as his but transmit it through my personal artistic style and touch. Moreover, he sells his artworks on products such as mugs and t-shirts. I was told that doing this to you artworks makes your work look cheap. However, it is not the case with Steadman's collection.

After going through a chain of thoughts, I decided to take another try in creating relevant illustrations for my book.

By adding a photograph as done in a collage, it can serve in creating a commonality with the photography section, untied by artistic splashes of paint that I created with my water soluble pencils.

I reckon this tarantula can help me create a die-cut through the book, that will enable me to design a transition between the various sections. The point is to ironically blend the sinister appearance of the tarantula and the soothing appearance of plants.

This is a basic demonstration of the spread. The left hand side is the die-cut, and the flower will bleed on the right page.

When it's closed it will end up looking like this.
